Artist Statement

Doreen Rivieccio
Artist’s Statement

I have been exploring my love of art since I could hold a pencil or crayon on my own. As a child, you would always find me drawing whenever given the opportunity. My parents, both artistic as well, encouraged me to pursue my dreams of being an artist.
I love working with and exploring a variety of different mediums, whether it is drawing with charcoal, painting, or digital art and photography. As my choice of medium changes so changes my choice of subject matter, although the themes and inspirations are always cultural or universal in nature.

My intention is always an exploration of angles and shapes. I visually explore a world of textures, pattern, hues and form.
My goal is to draw viewers in to see the many unique and distinctive layers that surround us and to visually communicate how our many different cultures and environments create and entice many feelings and moods. It is my hope that my works provide me an opportunity to share with the viewer the chance to experience all the intricacies found in the vast range and diversity of New York City’s many different cultures and urban art that surround us in our daily lives.
